A Heart Warming Story About How One Child Discovered Yoga Will Help Them For Life

Last week, one of our junior yogis arrived to class and exclaimed, “I am SO excited for yoga. I’ve decided I’m going to do yoga in the holidays. Yoga next term. Yoga next year and yoga for the rest of my life!”


I smiled from ear to ear, knowing this child had experienced the incredible shift yoga can have on your life.


I too had this experience, but much later in life as an adult. I first started yoga in my 20s as an on and off practice, but I knew there was something special about how it made me feel, that kept me coming back.

Yoga was introduced to me to help manage stress and anxiety.  I loved going to yoga on a Friday night to switch off from the week and start the weekend feeling more relaxed and free in my mind. Then I realized maybe I could have this feeling each morning before work.

What started as a 10 min practice turned into more regular 1 hour classes. I had started to discover the difference it made to my day. I felt less stressed and my mind was less racy. It was like I had this peaceful bubble around me helping me be more resilient. The stress was still there around me, but on the inside I felt calm, peaceful and happy.

I too decided, yoga was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I can only imagine how much more resilient, confident and calm I could have been at school had I discovered yoga as a child.
