Our Top 5 Morning Thoughts for a Happier Day

Does your child leap out of bed happy in the morning or are you met with moans and groans?

Some days I wake up feeling really excited, happy and motivated and other days I feel less enthusiastic.

This got me curious about what the difference was on the days I woke up feeling happy and full of energy.

Whilst having good quality sleep definitely helps, waking up happy actually came down to something I had a lot more control over.

One of the best kept secrets about the mind is that our thoughts create our feelings.

We live in a world of thought..

In fact some researchers have found that our mind can have up to 60 000 thoughts a day!

No wonder so many of us are searching for more peace and calm through activities like yoga and meditation.

What’s more is neuroscientists discovered that the secret to living a happy, purposeful and productive life comes down to the quality of our thoughts

After all, it has been a widely held philosophy for many centuries that ‘You are what you think.’

It all begins with how we think.

When we change the way we think,

It changes how we feel.

What we are feeling, directly relates to how our body reacts,

And how our body reacts, dictates how we behave.

When we wake up feeling agitated, grumpy or unmotivated,  it is not because we are a grumpy or lazy person but rather that our mind most likely had a negative thought when we first opened our eyes.

To wake up feeling happy and motivated, we can choose to leap towards positive, happy thoughts instead.

For the past few weeks, I have been taking notice of the first thought I have when I wake up.

When my first thought is not a pleasant one, I have been changing my thinking to one of gratitude or using the words ‘I get to..’ rather than ‘I have to.. or  “I don’t want to..”

...and I have noticed a big change in how I feel and what I achieve on those days.

Making these subtle changes to our thoughts can have such a big impact on our day and how we feel, act and behave.

I invite you and your family to give it a go this week.  We would love to hear how you go.
