Help Your Child Let Go of the Old and Make Space for the New

I’ve been moving house and have been letting go of a lot of possessions and making space for the new.

Letting go is a natural process in nature, but as humans, it seems that we can hold on to a lot.

Holding on can feel like a sense of security or safety.

  • We hold onto possessions (Sometimes for longer than the purpose they serve).

  • We hold onto our breath.

  • We can hold onto resentments (Leading to more stress and suffering).

  • Things not going right or getting our way.

Come to think of it, any time I’ve held on to something, it has never felt nice.

When letting go feels tricky or hard, we can remember that letting go takes many forms...

  •  Sometimes it is a feeling of release.

  •  Other times it's an act of acceptance.

  •  Sometimes letting go is a celebration of our freedom.

  •  And other times it’s a sweet moment of surrender.

Perhaps there is something you’ve been holding onto that you wish to release or let go of right now?

  • It could be a possession

  • A repeated, unhelpful thought

  • A negative pattern of behaviour

Letting go also gives us the opportunity to...

  • Be grateful for all that we already have

  • Be generous by giving away our belongings to a charity

  • Understand the difference between wants and needs

I wish you a week full of freedom and moments of sweet surrender.

PS. Our favourite yoga pose for letting go is that moment of sweet surrender in savasana (AKA Relaxation pose)

Interestingly, when we quiz our students about their favourite part of class this is the most common choice!
