No Joke! I Was So Stressed That My Hair Was Falling Out

Let me tell you a secret...

16 years ago, I was so stressed that the hair on my head was thinning and I was becoming bald.

No joke!

My masseuse told me that they were worried about hurting me because they were pushing so hard on my tense muscles, yet I couldn’t feel a thing!

Eating an apple and going to the dentist was so painful because I could barely open my jaw from it being tightly clenched from stress!

I was only in my early 20s and I knew something had to change.

I gave yoga a go.

The results didn’t happen overnight.

But with some time, consistency and curiosity, I kept coming back for more.

If it wasn’t for stress, I wouldn’t have found yoga and for that I’m grateful and so is my mind, body and soul.

There is no denying that stress is a major factor in our lives these days.

We all feel it in varying ways and there's a limit to how much we can take.

Just ask the body!

Yoga really is like peeling back the layers of an onion and I discovered how to peel the layers of stress from my body.

  • Yes. It’s great for flexibility.

  • Yes. It helps you relax.

  • Yes. It teaches you to breathe.

And…

As my yoga teacher recently shared, it’s also a journey of self discovery and coming back ‘home’ to our bodies so we can…

  • Self-regulate.

  • Self-soothe, and

  • De-stress.

In fact, Yoga really is the opposite of stress.

  • It’s a smile for our body.

  • A smile for our mind

  • And a smile for our soul!

And the sooner we start, the sooner (and longer) we get to live.

Because everyone deserves to feel calm, keep the hair on their head and enjoy biting into an apple too!

Just ask one of our teens who recently shared: "I love yoga because it makes me feel calm and I feel relief wash over me from the tense week."

We can’t wait to see all your smiles back soon!
